Lack of action against directors led to this train strike scenario

Friday 12 March 2010

The proposed strike by thousands of rail workers might not have been necessary had the Labour government passed legislation to make directors of companies criminally responsible if they fail to maintain health and safety standards, or in the case of network rail, track maintenance.

Directors who fail not only the public but their workforce by these irresponsible actions may be happy to have their companies pay a fine.

I doubt very much if they would be prepared to face a long jail sentence.
