FOOTBALL: Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has urged QPR's Anton Ferdinand to shake hands with John Terry before tomorrow's FA Cup fourth round clash at Loftus Road.
Villas-Boas said he hoped and expected Ferdinand not to snub Terry, despite allegations the Rangers defender was the victim of a racist slur from the England captain during October's Premier League game between the sides.
The players square off for the first time since then and just four days before the court case begins in which Terry stands accused of abusing Ferdinand.
Ferdinand is reportedly agonising over whether to shake Terry's hand before the lunchtime match, amid fears it could be viewed as hypocritical.
Asked if it was important he did so, Villas-Boas said: "Extremely important, extremely important."
He added: "This game is based on good values more than anything else.
"These players should continue to promote these good values."
Villas-Boas confirmed the matter had been discussed with Terry, who denies having racially abused Ferdinand.
The Chelsea boss said: "Everybody has been having conversations, from the top, to the players, to the manager."
Terry's case is due to be heard next Wednesday at Westminster magistrates after it was switched from west London at the request of the chief magistrate because of the profile of the case.
Terry will not attend the hearing, so his legal team will enter a not guilty plea on his behalf.
Frank Lampard will miss the match after suffering a calf tear at Norwich last Saturday.
Defensive midfielder John Obi Mikel (hamstring) is also out.
Gary Cahill could make his Blues debut after completing a transfer from Bolton Wanderers last week.
Didier Drogba and Saloman Kalou definitely miss out, as they are representing Ivory Coast at the African Cup of Nations.
Nedum Onuoha could make his QPR debut following a move from Manchester City on Thursday morning.
