Each month, the Morning Star's supporters and readers join forces in order to raise the £16,000 we need to ensure that the paper - and this site - continue to project a left-wing perspective amid a sea of right-wing voices.

It wasn't the biggest day in history on Wednesday, but help came from one of our newer funding streams to brighten up an otherwise unremarkable day.

A total of £366 was made up of a good £261 from our standing orders team, joined by donations of £105. Thanks go to a Wakefield reader for £40 and a Wolverhampton mate for £20.

But then we turned to our website donors, without much hope because we had a fairly large lump from that source quite recently.

And, lo and behold, £390 was sitting there just begging to be downloaded, which brought us up to a day total of £756, so good for all you new technologists.
