A roaring start to the September Fund sees £991 flying into the rattlingly empty coffers.

And that's just as well, because there's a mountain of work facing the paper in the coming period.

The TUC is on the near horizon, at which the foundations have to be laid for a huge fightback against the cuts in the public sector and the advancing menace of even more privatisation.

And, with the future of the NHS and education now in Tory and Lib Dem hands, it's not going to be quiet on any front.
